Dr. Paul Buehler is the Director of Academic Advising.  Dr. Buehler came to Loyola in the 2005 as a Master's student in the department of Religious Studies.  After completing his M.A. in 2007, he moved to Tucson, AZ to pursue his doctorate in early modern European history in  the Division for Late Medieval and Reformation Studies at the University of Arizona.  He was recipient of a fellowship from the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst in the summer of 2009, which allowed him to study in Bad Godesberg, Germany, near the city of Cologne.  Dr. Buehler was then able to combine his love of books with a fascination at historical control and suppression in his dissertation, which examined censorship and book policing in the Holy Roman Empire during the late sixteenth- and seventeenth centuries.  He earned a Fulbright fellowship for 2011-2012, which facilitated an extraordinary and idyllic year of research in Vienna, Austria.  He was awarded his Ph.D. in 2015.  Dr. Buehler has worked at Loyola since 2012 in a variety of offices and departments including Religious Studies, History, the University Honors Program, and now the Student Success Center.  He lives in the Bywater with his wife and their two dogs.
