Currently located online, OWLS offers free peer tutoring to all full-time undergraduate students

Writing Support for Graduate Students & Online Education Program Students

Distance learning and graduate students may use this form to submit a draft for tutor feedback. Fill out the form thoroughly.

Please allow three business days for a response.

Remember that we do not edit papers but instead give writing assistance and constructive criticism to help make your paper stronger. Tutors will remark on grammatical errors but may not note each and every problem they see. It is our hope that a few gentle reminders will help you learn to find additional grammatical errors in your work.

We look forward to reading your work!

Supplemental Instruction:

OWLS offers Supplemental Instruction (SI) for a number of classes that contain traditionally difficult course content. These peer-facilitated sessions are held two times during the week and supplement the daily course material. The sessions are designed to be interactive and helpful for everyone, and the goal is for all students who attend to gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter.

Peer Supplemental Instruction leaders are students who have taken the course and received good grades or who have shown significant understanding of course material. SI leaders do not lecture on/teach course content or introduce new material but instead are trained to guide students in problem-solving activities, interactive games, learning strategies, and group discussions. These activities are designed to reinforce and enhance what students are already learning in the classroom.

In turn, student attendees benefit from sessions by interacting with the course material multiple times and in multiple ways. Students who attend SI sessions usually show improved class performance and improved retention. They can also develop a further sense of community and learn to work as a team.

Supplemental Instruction is not available over the summer.
