How do I make the most of my tutoring session?

Always have as much information and material as possible. For assistance with papers, have your assignment sheet from your professor and any graded or ungraded work. If you have a graded draft, its always best to try revising your paper before you bring it in to a tutor (but be sure to bring both your graded paper and your revision). If you are still in the brainstorming process, bring your assignment and a willingness to get some of your ideas down on paper. If you need help with other subjects like accounting or chemistry, bring your textbook, class notes, and any other materials that you think your tutor might need to assist you in answering your questions.

What if I just have a quick question?

You should still schedule an appointment with us. Often quick questions can lead to other questions, and we want you to get the most out of your time with us.

I’m a good student, why would I go to OWLS?

One misconception about tutoring is that it's for students who are struggling academically; however, the truth is that all learners, no matter how advanced, benefit from another perspective. Two heads are better than one, as they say. Good writers discuss their work and ask others for feedback. Strong students know that the more they engage in the material, the stronger they become. Remember that you're always in the process of growing and learning, and we’re here to assist you.
