Resources for Parents & Families of Current Students

Dear Parents & Families,

Welcome to the Wolf Pack! As the parent or family of a Loyola University New Orleans student, you may have questions concerning the experience he or she is having here at Loyola. We recognize the important role that parents and families play in supporting students in these critical transitional years. In addition to being personally accessible, all of us here at Loyola want to provide you with access to information that will be informative and helpful. For that reason, the Parents and Families webpage was specifically designed to link you to some of the most commonly requested information about Loyola University New Orleans.

We are proud and appreciative of our students' decision to attend Loyola University New Orleans, and want to do everything we can to make their experience - and yours - a positive one. That begins with clear, open and routine communications in the areas that are most relevant to you. We hope this webpage will assist us in meeting that important goal.

As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact my office at 504-865-2990 or success@loyno.edu.

Kind regards,

Elizabeth Rainey,
Director, Student Success Center

Commuters

Our students who commute to campus are an integral part of the Loyola community. We know commuter students can sometimes feel disconnected and uninformed living off campus. The Department of Student Involvement is here to help ease those anxieties and get all students connected to campus life. Satchmo’s lounge, in the lower level of the Danna Center, is a very popular commuter student space. Board games, darts, foosball, billiards, and other gaming equipment used in Satchmo’s can be checked out in the Student Involvement office.

The Commuter Student Association’s (CSA) sole purpose is to make Loyola’s commuter students feel welcome and appreciated. You can see events hosted by CSA on their OrgSync portal. CSA plans commuter specific events and uses feedback on how to better help those students who live off campus.

Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT)

The purpose of the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) is to evaluate and address student behavior that may be concerning and to coordinate Loyola resources to promote a safe and healthy campus community.

BIT addresses concerns, such as: difficulty with classses, alcohol or drug use or any kind of wellness concern. As a part of this process, we work very hard to maintain confidentiality for students so they trust the work we’re doing. As a result, when a report is submitted, we don’t generally report back or communicate with whomever submitted it about the details of how we’ll be working with individual students.

Family members can certainly submit a BIT report for any Loyola student.
